QUICKTURN Production Machining Ltd. is proud to sponsor the twentieth annual QUICKTURN Metalworking Excellence Awards contest for high school metalworking students.  The objective of the contest is to encourage excellence in metalwork classes and is open to all metalworking students in high school in Vernon, Armstrong, Enderby, Lumby, Salmon Arm, Sicamous, Lake Country and Kelowna.  Any metalworking student in the 2016/2017 school year was eligible to enter.  Projects of the students' choice were judged on workmanship, technical merit and ingenuity.

The school of the first and second place finishers received a magnetic base and dial indicator set, a 6" digital caliper, a telescopic gauge and 2 tap wrenches. The third place school received a magnetic base and dial indicator set and a 6" digital caliper. A.L. Fortune Secondary also received a 6" digital caliper and 2 tap wrenches for participating.

The school of the first place finishers received 4 micrometer sets, a measuring tool set and a 6" digital caliper and the second and third place schools each received a 3 piece micrometer set for their metalworking classes.

Each entry is to be labeled with the students' and schools' names and packed in a box and shipped courier (collect) or dropped off to us. They will be returned to your school after judging. All entrants will receive a participant certificate and there will be keeper plaques for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. The first place winner will receive a Machinery's Handbook as well as an annual trophy to be displayed at his or her school. The awards will be presented at the schools' annual awards day.
